Founding Engineer

We're hiring a Founding Engineer / Senior Software Engineer / Tech Lead to help our client architect, build, and scale the core systems that power their product. This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives in an early-stage environment, enjoys wearing multiple hats, and wants meaningful ownership over the technology.
You'll work closely with the founding team on everything from system architecture and data infrastructure to hands-on coding and production debugging. If you like moving fast, making decisions, and shaping a product from the ground up, we'd love to hear from you.
What You'll Do
- Architect and implement core systems — cloud infrastructure, backend services, APIs, and data pipelines.
- Design and scale our data models and databases to handle growing volumes and complexity.
- Own features end-to-end: from scoping and design through to deployment and monitoring.
- Jump in wherever needed — quick scripts, data cleaning, production firefighting, or long-term technical strategy.
- Help shape engineering culture, standards, and hiring as the team grows.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of commercial backend experience (7+ years preferred).
- Strong commercial experience with data modelling, scaling databases, and big data.
- Proficiency with the TypeScript stack (TS, JS, React, Node) and/or Python.
- Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider — AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g. Terraform, Pulumi, CloudFormation).
- Track record of architecting and implementing core systems at scale.
- Strong soft skills and genuine "startup thinking" — comfortable with ambiguity, fast iteration, and shifting priorities.
- A "can-do" attitude — you're happy to jump in wherever the product needs you, whether that's writing a one-off script, cleaning messy data, or debugging a live incident.
What We Offer
- Salary of £105k–£125k
- Hybrid working - 4 days on-site in our Marylebone office, Fridays from home.
- £20/day lunch allowance for every day in the office.
