Core Team as a Service

Three roles decide whether a product works out: technical leadership, delivery management and senior engineering. Rent all three on a fixed monthly fee, instead of spending the next six months hiring them one at a time.

From £9,500 per month, excluding VAT. Minimum engagement of 3 months.

What is a core team as a service?

Core team as a service is an engagement model where a company rents a complete, managed development unit rather than hiring engineers or buying project work. The Metamindz Core Team is a fractional CTO, a technical delivery manager and a senior full-stack developer on a fixed monthly fee starting at £9,500 excluding VAT, with QA, UI, UX, customer interviews, DevOps, data engineering, cyber security, e-commerce and additional engineers available as add-ons. The team owns architecture, delivery management, code review and release, with a minimum engagement of three months.

What the Core Team is for

🧩

One team, three jobs covered

Technical leadership, delivery management and senior engineering in a single unit. These are the three roles that most often go missing, and the ones that are hardest and slowest to hire individually.

💷

A fee that does not move

A fixed monthly fee, so the cost is predictable and nobody is arguing about change requests. Add-ons are taken deliberately, when the roadmap needs them.

🤓

Architecture before code

The fractional CTO designs and estimates the work before the team starts building, then reviews the code that comes out of it. No over-engineering, no unnecessary complexity.

The companies we build for

We work with e-commerce, SaaS, healthtech, consumer apps and IoT businesses across the UK, Europe, the US and the Middle East. What changes between them is the stage, and what the stage needs.

Founders and pre-seed

Non-technical or solo founders with a product to prove and no engineering function yet. The job is to get something real in front of customers and investors without burning the round on headcount.

What we do

  • Product scoping, architecture and a build plan you can take to investors
  • End-to-end MVP delivery, including the parts most agencies leave out
  • Honest advice on what to build now and what to defer until after funding
  • AI used where it speeds delivery, with guardrails around auth, payments and data

Services involved

  • CTO-Led Development
  • Fractional CTO
  • Technical Due Diligence

Seed-stage startups

Funded teams with early traction, a small in-house team, and a roadmap growing faster than the team can absorb.

What we do

  • Feature delivery alongside the in-house team, with code review included
  • Analytics and tracking wired in so growth and marketing can see what works
  • Architecture cleanup before the first scaling problem arrives
  • Hiring support when it is time to bring the work in-house

Services involved

  • CTO-Led Development
  • Fractional CTO
  • CTO-Led Recruitment
  • AI Adoption

Series A and scaleups

Companies with an established engineering team, a real user base, and pressure to ship faster without lowering the quality bar.

What we do

  • A delivery pod owning a workstream end to end, reporting into your CTO
  • Platform, performance and reliability work ahead of a launch or a spike
  • Technical due diligence and tech health reports for the next round
  • Structured AI adoption across the SDLC, with human oversight protocols

Services involved

  • CTO-Led Development
  • AI Adoption
  • Technical Due Diligence
  • CTO-Led Recruitment

Enterprise

Organisations running multiple suppliers and in-house teams, where the hard part is coordination, ownership and documentation rather than raw capacity.

What we do

  • A team that takes ownership of a workstream rather than working ticket to ticket
  • Technical leadership across in-house teams and other delivery partners
  • Documentation, handover and knowledge transfer treated as deliverables
  • Security reviews, GDPR-aligned data handling and engagements that sit outside IR35

Services involved

  • CTO-Led Development
  • Fractional CTO
  • Technical Due Diligence
  • Tech Events

Two ways to work with us

Both models feature senior, vetted engineers with great soft skills. The difference is how much of the thinking, planning and quality control sits with us rather than with you.

Per-developer

One vetted engineer, on a simple hourly or daily rate.

Transparent hourly or daily rate, quoted on the intro call.

Best for

Teams that already have technical leadership and delivery management in place, and need capacity in a specific stack.

What you get

  • A single engineer allocated to your team
  • Technically vetted by our CTOs before you meet them
  • Works inside your tools, your process and your rituals
  • You meet the engineer before anything is agreed

“Great working with Lev and team at MetaMindz! We were working on a project to build new features in our mobile app. Lev was brilliant with managing the project and supporting the definition of tasks to complete with his insight on the user experience. The dev team was very responsive throughout by sharing updates on both Slack and our project management board in Asana. I look forward to continuing to work with MetaMindz in the future.” source

Google review

“Working with Lev at Metamindz has been an absolute pleasure. The level of service and personal input has been outstanding since the beginning. Lev, was able to find the right people, talent and skills required. But the service does not end there, the aftersales, the advice, the attention to detail are all outstanding. If we had any concerns, they were dealt with immediately and with regular follow-ups. Metamindz are the first name that springs to mind when considering recruitment, I would totally recommend.” source

Frequently Asked Questions

A fractional CTO leading architecture, technical decisions and code review; a technical delivery manager running sprints, reporting and day-to-day communication; and a senior full-stack developer building the product. Architecture and estimation happen before the build starts, and documentation and handover support are included throughout.

From £9,500 per month, excluding VAT, as a fixed monthly fee. QA, UI, UX, customer interviews, DevOps, data engineering, cyber security, landing pages and e-commerce, mobile developers and additional frontend, backend or full-stack engineers are priced separately and added when the roadmap needs them.

Three months, which is long enough to onboard properly and ship something you can judge us on.

An agency typically gives you an account manager and a team delivering an agreed scope. A Core Team gives you a technical leader who owns the architecture and the quality bar, a delivery manager who runs the work, and engineers who build it, all on a fixed monthly fee. The team is expected to tell you when something is a bad idea, including when that means less work for us.

Yes. QA and test automation, UI design, UX design, customer interviews, DevOps, data engineering, cyber security, landing pages and e-commerce, mobile app developers and additional engineers are all available as add-ons on top of the core team.
